Describe what you own
Start by identifying whether you own a week, Club Points, or both. A week that has been elected for points needs to be treated according to that election and the resulting reservation terms. Marriott Bonvoy hotel rewards are separate from Marriott Vacation Club ownership.
Do not assume rental rights are interchangeable
The applicable ownership documents and reservation conditions determine permitted use. Marriott's published Abound reservation acknowledgement restricts commercial use. Adding a guest's name does not resolve whether paid rental activity is permitted, and an owned week should not be assumed to have the same terms as a points reservation.
Review before electing or reserving
Election, banking, borrowing, and cancellation actions can change the inventory available to you. Share the current status and deadlines before making a change for a management plan. Check the current rules with owner services; a change may not be reversible.
Build the plan around permitted inventory
If the inventory and proposed activity are eligible, a written management plan can explain what the team handles and which responsibilities remain yours. It should also explain compensation, proceeds calculations, and payout timing. The plan cannot override the club's rules.
Your quick checklist
- Owned weeks versus points
- Completed elections or reservations
- Expiration and election deadlines
- Current ownership and reservation documents
